The Tattoo has a proud history. They stretch back for more than seven decades. Following the production of ‘Something About a Soldier’ in the Ross Bandstand in 1949, it was decided to create an event which ran alongside the existing Edinburgh Festivals. The official Tattoo was duly created with its first performance in 1950. 2023 production will not be a disappointment with its 73rd Anniversary Performance.

PEEBLES IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS
Nestled within an area of outstanding beauty and just twenty-three miles south of Edinburgh, the Borders town of Peebles, one of Scotland’s hidden treasures sits beside the majestic River Tweed. On a sunny day there is nowhere more beautiful than the walk along the River Tweed with the backdrop of the Tweeddale Hills. Beginning in the Tweedsmuir Hills the mighty River Tweed winds its way through Peebles and enters the North Sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed a journey of ninety-eight miles. More Atlantic salmon are caught in this river than any other European river.

EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO
The jewel in the crown of this ‘Scottish Splendour’ holiday is of course Saturday evening spectacular production of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, an awe-inspiring pageantry of colour and variety drawn from the four corners of the globe.

PEEBLES HYDRO HOTEL
Peebles Hydro Hotel offers a beautiful setting in the gardens, in the border town of Peebles. This charming, historic hotel features an indoor swimming pool, a spa, a gym and restaurant. Peebles Hydro was originally a centre for hydropathic treatments, as the water in the surrounding area is known for its healthy properties. The building dates from the late 19th century and is surrounded by forest. Each room at Peebles Hydro features classic décor finished in lightly coloured tones. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, heating and a bathroom with free toiletries. You can enjoy lovely views when enjoying breakfast or dinner in the restaurant. Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.2 for a two-person trip.

Our tour commences with coach pickups from mid-Ulster on Friday 18th August with departure on the 07.30am Stena Superfast ferry sailing from Belfast to Cairnryan. With a driving distance of just 125 miles to Peebles and a comfort stop en-route we expect to arrive at our hotel late afternoon in good time to check-in, have a brief look around the hotel and Peebles before dinner. The return sailing on Sunday 20th August with Stena ferry at 7.30pm is due back into Belfast at 9.45pm with coach transfers to your set-down point in Northern Ireland.
